Setas Technology Center developed  GREENPOINT® oxo biodegradable technology for polyolefins.

GREENPOINT® Oxo are very carefully formulated additives to modify ordinary polyolefin to biodegradable material by just adding  1%  level.

GREENPOINT® Oxo does not have any major impact on final processing or product properties such as sealability, barrier, clarity and haze properties. One of the major features of GreenPoint is that the finished product does not show any premature degredation during the  functional life time of  the plastic product.

After the useful life of the plastic article is completed, the GREENPOINT® additive starts  breaking down the  long polymeric chains by free radical activity into monomeric/oligomeric  molecules. Then, the low molecular weight polymeric chains are open to bioassimilation.

What is critical in the GREENPOINT® formulation is that the formula is well adjusted to make sure that the product does not disintegrate during the useful life of the plastic product. In addition, it is well-blanced to provide very low dosing levels of the additive package to make sure that the cost impact is minimal on the final article.
